Guys, Directv has an a so-called international package that excludes channels from the great continent of Africa. None...Zero. They have channels from Vietnam, UKraine. Poland ...etc. Nothing against those folks but how international are you if you don't have anything from Africa ...considering the number of immigrants from the continent in the USA.

A rep. from Directv had the nerve to tell me that the number of Vietnamese immigrants outnumber immigrants from Africa by a 100 to 1. Yes you read that right, 100 to 1. I know he must be out of his mind.

Anyway unless and until Directv customers call Directv and complain, nothing will be done. Let's call them and register our indignation at this foolishness. Call for NTA, Canal Telesud, TV Africa etc. Let them know that Africans are here.

1-800-494-4388 ...

Comcast has NTA, Dish Network has Telesud, Directv has no African Channels....zero .... Unless we take action, they will continue with business as usual.

I live in the US and our FTA and satellite coverage sucks compared to the rest of the world. HERE is everything you want to know about watching the cup if you live in the USA or Canada.

1. Dish Network - ART (Arabic) America has ALL games LIVE so far
2. Dish Network - TV5 (French) should have quarterfinals and onward LIVE
3. OnLine - JumpTV, ghana2008.tv, and various other FREE and PAY internet streaming video sites have the games, but quality may be lacking on some sites

Canadian stations mimick those of the US b/c the same satellites are available overhead ;o) Why can't we get Eurosport, BBC Sport, ART Sport, etc... why o why?!!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

NONE of the televised games (excepting maybe TV5) are great quality... WHY, because Ghana (and the crooks in Africa) have sold restricted rights to a French media company and only resale this side of the Atlantic has been via STREAMING VIDEO/INTERNET so many of the TV stations are airing streaming or redundant broadcast feeds (lower quality, cheaper) of the actual LIVE (high quality) feed.

ART America so far has shown LIVE games with picture quality of a late 1980s VCR, but that is good enough for me and just as good if not better than the online streaming picture quality which is compared to VCR quality.

In this day and age it is ridiculous that we in the US do not have the same access to LIVE TV feeds like other countries... FOX SOCCER or ABC/ESPN or SETANTA or SOMEONE needs to buy the TV rights next time around (NOT the internet streaming rights)... seems everything out of Africa is being sent through the internet pipeline even the TV feeds.

What I wouldn't give for a clear(er) picture -- at least as good as regular (not HD) ESPN on cable or satellite. Maybe when TV5 (French, Dish Network) takes over the picture quality will be up to par for the US. Weird that no one has picked up the rights for US broadcast of Africa Cup of Nations as the premier league is all but dead with all of the Africans gone... ;o) gripe, gripe, gripe... GOOD LUCK.

I am driving all over town tomorrow to find a place to watch TUN vs. SA as our satellite is down again! GO Eagles!!!!
