Yeah, even though they say it will be on come September, I am still skeptical. My history with Cogeco has taught me not to get overly excited.

im new here..i just wanted 2 know, when is setanta available on bell expressvu? or rogers? 2 football games a week is not enough for me.. i neeed atleast 5.. lol.. HELP PLEASE?

I just got a message on my digital box stating that Setanta is now available on Shaw. Free preview until Sept. 7 and then $14.99 after that.

From what I know, Setanta is now available on BEV, Rogers, Shaw and Star Choice.... I REALLY hope that Cogeco smartens up and adds the channel to their lineup very soon!

I just got an email response from Setanta saying that they are still negotiating with Cogeco and that it could be another week or another month or longer yet!

I suggest that we keep pestering them as they are the only ones left!

That would probably be your best bet. I had a few of my friends and my wife e-mail Shaw about Setanta and in a week and a half it went from Shaw and Setanta stating it would be a few months at least to on the air now.

EVERYBODY WHO IS A COGECO CUSTOMER, PLEASE CONTACT COGECO REPEATEDLY AND ASK THEM TO GET SETANTA!

as of 7:30pm on Friday 10th. I called Cogeco to order Setanta, they told me they have not decided whether or not too carry it and are waiting to see how many people are calling about it. The girl i talked to said three people had called within the last hour since i had called.
I would suggest or even ask if you're a Cogeco subscriber to call and tell them you want it, even if you don't want it, so the rest of us can enjoy it.

setanta is on starchoice on channel 239 dont know about pricing yet sometimes they add new channels to there package great channel lot of epl games plus the championship french leauge mabey uefa cup dont know yet

I called Cogeco today and was flatly told by them that they had no plans of getting Setanta. I think the girl I spoke to was wrong BUT this is a lesson that ALL Cogeco customers who want the channel MUST blitz them with calls and emails so that they do get the channel. I am on the phone on hold with Cogeco as I write this and I will continue to phone them and email them until they do get the channel, I hope all of you do the same!


.... I just spoke to another customer rep as I finished this post, she to told me that she has not heard of the channel and that she does not think they will add it anytime soon. She did say she will take note of my request and if others request it as well then Cogeco will likely move to get the channel.

Has anyone been more succesful then me in finding concrete info on when or if Cogeco actually will pickup Setanta. Im going to keep pestering them, hopefully everyone will!

I think I'm going to give them a call sometime this week,Cogeco that is...if people keep calling they'll have to get it.

Put some pressure on Videotron. Not convinced i want it but i want to have the choice of being able to get it.

Yeah. Hopefully lots of customers will continue to flood both Cogeco and Videotron with Setanta requests.

An update to the question of whether Cogeco will carry Setanta:
I just spoke to yet another Cogeco Rep on the phone and she informed that Setanta will be on Cogeco come September. That is encouraging news...although we must continue to make phone calls and emails to ensure that the channel does come as other Reps I have spoken to recently have denied its arrival in Sept.

I have e-mailed Videotron and received a similar reply to that of GarethKeano; i.e. they asked me to e-mail them back so they add my name to a list of interested customers, which I did. I don't like advertising Setanta, they never answer my e-mails, but I have no choice. Anyway, I would suggest to those interested in having the channel available on Videotron to write to them now; also, if you are a member of one or many of your team's message boards, I would suggest posting there as well to get as much attention as possible (I did that).

I totally agree!!! Hopefully Cogeco and Videotron will get their acts together and give us Setanta!

I have called Cogeco about 10 times this weekend. Just trying to put pressure on them so that they give us Setanta!

I also sent them a couple of nasty emails, threatening to cancel my service and get Expressvu. Hopefully they get the message that we are serious.

i'm on the phone with them right now, i put in another request for the channel. I emailed last night and also threatened to move all my services to another provider, phone/internet/cable. Tomorrow i'm going to try something else. I work for a contractor for Cogeco and i'll see if i can't push it through the local boss and imbellish the truth of interest locally. Maybe he'll put a word in for me.

All of us who are Cogeco customers have to do our part to pressure Cogeco to get Setanta. I read a report regarding a Videotron customer who emailed the company about getting the channel. Videotron all but said they would not be getting it. Lets not allow Cogeco to do the same to us. I personally have been calling Cogeco several times a day as well as sending them many emails.

Here is a copy of the Videotron response, which put serious doubt upon them getting Setanta:

A cable service provider can decide to not offer a station that does not respond to the demands of its customers. It may also have restrictions on the space available on the bandwidth.

However, we have registered your interest for Setanta Sports.

I got an email from Setanta regarding Cogeco. They were quite vague on when or if they were going to sort out a deal with Cogeco:

We are negotiating but I don't have a time line. Could be a month or a week

Cogeco is also vague about Setanta. All they say is that they are negotiating and to call them back in September. I think we all have to push hard to ensure that the deal actually gets done, or else we might still be waiting to get the channel in a year from now, just like what happend with the NFL Network (almost all other providers have the Nfl Network accept Cogeco, apparently they are still negotiating...)

It depends on when the Videotron reply was sent; and it doesn't necessarily mean they'll never offer the channel. Anyway, here are the replies I got from them:

On Thursday, August 02:
"Thank you for your interest in our digital service and for having taken the time to write us about "Setanta Sports Canada" channel

This station is not presently available and we have no information concerning its future availablility.

Videotron regularly adds new channels to its illico service. However, we cannot offer all the channels available for digital television.

The services and needs differ from one region to another and the channel additions requested must reflect the real interest of our customers.

If you wish, we can add your name to our list of customers interested in this channel. A popularly requested channel could be added to the illico service. So that we can add your name to our customer list, please write us again taking care to include your name and Videotron account number.

Do not forget to include the previous correspondence in your message to help us follow up on your request.

Note that if you are not a Videotron customer, you will need to send your request to your service provider."

Then, after sending them my account information, on August 4:
"We want to thank you for providing this information.

We confirm having registered your interest for this channel.

You will be contacted when it becomes available.

Thank you for understanding."

I'll keep on trying. Anyway, good luck with Cogeco.
