Post subject: News Release from Rogers Sportsnet ....
Hi,
Just noticed this release on the Sportsnet site
http://www.sportsnet.ca/soccer/article.jsp?content=20070802_164325_5904
You know, I think it is time to broaden my horizons...a little Serie A on Foxsportsworld, a little Bundesliga on GolTV and two games a week of EPL...one on Sportsnet and one on The Score. Rogers/Sentanta and keep their premium service.

so is it ppv per match or is it a channel that you can order? Other press releases were leaning to a channel centered around Soccer, Rugby and Cricket. If it's ppv per match i think i'd like that better, especially since i just want to watch one team. The rest of the league i can catch on the foxsportsworld report.

Found this on www.bigsoccer.com. The way I read it, there is going to be a Setanta station for $14.99 per month and then additional games on PPV. Am I reading this right?

If PPV was a reasonable amount (say less than $10), I might consider individual games but if they stay at $25 like last year for select games on Viewers' Choice...I'll pass.
I'll check out the free preview of Setanta but I still look at this as a cash grab. Although, I love coaching and watching soccer, I do have a job and other interests and could not possibly watch all the games without turning into a Lazyboy lump. I am not willing to pay $14.99/month for "choice". The Sunday lineup on The Score looks pretty good and I'll probably stick with the Sportsnet "freebee", FSWC for Serie A and highlights and GOLTV for Bundesliga.

Sure hope this is all in place for the beginning of the English season. I called Rogers yesterday, and the customer service agent had no clue what I was talking about when I asked about the service. I had to direct her to this forum and when she opened up and read the Rogers Sportsnet link, she was still puzzled and knew nothing> Makes you wonder!!!!

I'll probably do the same thing as bugfan68 does. Stick with GOLTV for Budesliga and Spanish, TLN for Italian, FSWC for news and Sundays with the Score for EPL.
So we only get one EPL game per week on SportsNet? What about the mid weak action? Is that on Setanta?
We had some good years before, since last year everything went bad to worst for EPL. I guess they realized how much money they were losing by offering all those games for free.

Although I did say I probably would not pick up Setanta for $15/month....I will take it when it is free!
It went live on Channel 429 on Rogers last night. It will continue on free preview until September 10. I read on another forum that they would then be looking at subscription with a 4-month committment from customers.

Setanta sports pak is up and running. In Onatario, it is on Rogers ch 429; I'm not sure about Bell. The first month is free, thereafter the monthly fee is $14.99. BRing on the footy.....

Post subject: Setanta Channel on Rogers on Vancouver Island
The local Rogers representative in Vancouver told me that
the new (free for one month) channel is on 429. When
checking today, however, I found that 429 is broadcasting
audio-only popular classics and not soccer. I looked
through other digital channels and found soccer on
digital channel 154, labelled STS. It is broadcasting
exactly the programs listed for Setanta sports. Channel
154 is also listing EPL games for Saturday. So, at
least hear on Vancouver Island, the new Setanta channel
seems to be broadcasting on #154.
