Post Post subject: ITVN Buffering during Liverpool - Chelsea
I am wondering did anybody else who watched the Liverpool-Chelsea match on ITVN experience constant buffering throughout the entire match? I have had ITVN now for 3 weeks and buffering has NEVER been a problem, during this match though it buffered every three or four minutes. Is this a problem with my individual internet server or is this a widespread problem? thank you.

Post Post subject: I had it too
The first major fixture on ITVN and they fail miserably. Our servers are not all wrong. ITVN cannot deliver what they promise. What will happen when a THE real team are on here. I had to turn my connection down from the top setting which until now has been pretty constant at 1.1.
When it should have been bad last week watching Spurs at 7pm ( when more people are on the net ) where it worked perfectly. Now at 6:30am with net conjestion low we get this c..p
I was booted out a couple of times when trying highest setting. Watching at a lesser setting the picture is much worse.
Terrible showing by ITVN.

Why not give it a chance Francois? It has only been 1 month. I'm sure it will get better..they can't afford to refund EVERYONE after the 30 day trial, they'll lose so much $$$!! I have confidence, they will fix..

They deleted my post off their forums. Free speech not part of their vocabulary.

Chances are good now that Fabian will disappear back down the hole he came from.

It looks like there was a blip over the weekend with the resolution and buffering of the ITVN setup, causing a few of you to lose your cool over ITVN. Give ITVN a chance, speak to their customer service as I have and you'll see that they are flexible and will probably provide you a credit for the buffereing problem. Think about it.. have you never lost the signal from your sattelite dish? Had your Windows Computer crash? Dropped a cell phone call? Lost internet connection? These things are part of technology today, nothing is perfect. Give it a chance and milk the 30 day guarantee / money back option.

hey Manutd1 .. no i don't work for ITVN, I live in T.O. and if you have a half a brain you'll notice that ITVN is not a Canadian company. Anyways.. manutd your toon is starting to stink.. looks like you have nothing else to contribute then to attack ITVN and Fabian.. why don't you go on about how shite united were yesterday.. I am sure you can read the reports on your amazing internet connection. Do us all a favour and change your toon man.. it's starting to suck. I suggest you return your box and put an end to your misery.

hey ritchie, Im going to take the high road, and not attack you with insults like you have just done to me. If you dont want to read my postings on my experiences with ITVN feel free not too, just dont look at them. If you have an objection with them then EXCELLENT, i enjoy a bit of a debate. What i have said about ITVN lacked the venom with which you just used towards me. Im glad you like ITVN, that is NOT the case with anybody. You say my 'toon' is getting tiring... whatever...atleast I my toon is a lot more polite. Have a GREAT day, keep LOVING ITVN, and i will be on here writing plenty so either get USED TO MY TOON or dont read it. Your choice Very Happy

More prospective ITVN buyers could do much worse than listening to manunited1 . I am in total agreement with him. Unlike people who work for ITVN masquerading as happy customers. Sure you would all like to shut us up but people deserve to hear both sides and not bias from ITVN.As far as other technologies failing sometime that is true but at least with DirectTV you usually have a good picture and good service. The ITVN picture sucks.
As far as United playing like s..t yesterday, well that happens but I still want to see my team no matter how they play. That is what it means to be a true fan. I can still fondly remember spending my 6 shillings allowance to get me to the ground, get my in a get a programme to watch Best, Law and Charlton. A true fan wants to see their team no matter what. At least being a United fan gets you to see the most exciting football teams ever. Too bad for the rest of you. Even when Liverpool had all their success they still played second fiddle to Us.

I am NOT an ITVN employee, nor relative. I am a satisfied customer. Yes I was pissed off this Sunday AM, but hey, we all go through growing pains. I will give it a shot, you know why? Because, folks, this small company that we are investing in, could turn out to become something BIG. Don't you all want to say you were there since the beginning? VOD is the thing of the future and we have it at our fingertips. Let me ask you a question. When your satellite goes down, due to heavy rain storms, wind storms, lightning & snowstorms, do you call your provider and freak out at them?

Fabian,

Thanks for the response. Let me say first of all that I was very excitied by the chance to see the live premier league games for my team that are not covered by FSC or PPV anymore and pleased you offered the 30 day trial to do so.

Here are the problems (for me at least) in what you've said.

Firstly, you say that it will take 60-90 days until a solution is in place for users on the east coast. That means that the current unusable service at peak time - the only time anyone cares - will continue until the season is almost halfway over. You are asking us for blind faith that you will solve the problem in that time and asking for us to commit beyond the 30 days (essentially for the whole one year). So that means that until at least December I'll be paying for something that doesn't work?

On demand is fine for those who do not support any particular team. I think you'll find that most of your new subscribers to Sentanta follow the traditional big teams in England (Liverpool, Manchester United, Arsenal) and got this service to see those games LIVE. Contrary to another post, most fans who subscribed to this service will already have loads of options to see the goals, highlights or even whole matches from other sources (FSC being the primary one, plus youtube, etc). By suggesting we watch the games during non-congested times you're in fact admitting that your product cannot provide the service claimed.

I will be returning my box this week before my 30 days expires but will look on with interest as this technology develops and may give you another try next season.

My addition
They have tried to explain this as an east coast problem but I am on the west .
I totally agree with this person although I am screwed because I am a United fan and will do whatever it takes to see them, including putting up with this c..p until I get a better option.Does not stop me from warning everybody else against it though.

TELLING US TO WATCH SETANTA VOD THERFORE WATCHING AT NON CONJESTED TIMES IS THE BIGGEST PROOF YET FROM ITVN THAT THEY KNOW THEIR SERVICE SUCKS.

LIVE OR NOTHING. DO THESE AMERICANS NOT UNDERSTAND ANYTHING.

I think this VOD thing is very interesting...I would definitely be very excited to have the option. in case Im working and I want to catch the game later than this is perfect, since I dont think you can tape what on ITVN.
I do however agree with MUFC, I think this VOD thing is ITVN's way of fixing the problems that was experienced over the weekend. If the only way that ITVN can deal with the problems posed by mass viewers tuning into watch their feed is by trying to force us to watch the matches at seperate times, after the match has already been played, then to me that is not impressive. What makes me NOT impressed with ITVN is that I did my homework on the company before I ordered my receiver. I called them several times, wrote emails, read up on them through the internet, etc.. I was told one thing, but after I had already paid and set it up I have been told the exact opposite. One of the issues I discussed with ITVN was whether their broadcast would be ruined if a mass audience tuned in, they assured me this would NOT be a problem...it was, and this VOD thing seems to confirm that it will continue to be a problem.

Here's an update for ITVN Setenta / East Coast Users:

You'll notice we have two streams to choose from ... "play 1" and "play 2" ... One uses our West Coast data center and the other uses a CDN solution we're testing ... Please report back your results Very Happy

Well credit where credit is due.You are trying I will give you that. Is the first feed the original feed ? Both feeds look the same to me.Both stream at 1.1. The real test is when you have a game that everyone wants to see when they do not have options to see another game at the same time such as when Liverpool played Chelsea. As long as Fox Soccer in the USA and FSWC have games on at the same time you will not have everybody watching ITVN. The next true test will be next Sunday when United play Newcastle. I hope for my sake you pass that test. Since getting the box I have seen 6 soccer games I would not have been able to see other wise but truthfully if they were Pay per view option here I would not have paid. If I get to see one United game a month then this box is worth it to me even though the picture is still not the greatest it is the buffering that is unacceptable.

I havent tried the new stream, but it is good too know that ITVN is working hard to correct the problem. I have had negative thigs to say about ITVN in the past and I probably will have negatives to say in the future. I will say though that this is very good news. I am happy to see that they are working hard to improve their product.
