First off, I was just as surprised to get my bill from Fed Ex today; but saying this is a bad experience with Setanta Sports and ITVN to me isn't accurate. Paying duty and taxes is a fact of life for bringing merchandise across the Canadian border (just last week I had to pay $35 duty on a jersey ordered from England). I was more annoyed at the fact that brokerage fees were $28, to me that seems quite high.

If this is the case, that every one has to pay 56$ for customs, then I will be very frustrated. I have been reasonably satisfied with the product, but with there service I have not been at all. When I first ordered ITVN there was nothing on the website that indicated anything about a download cap, only after I had shelled out my $60 did I find out that a download cap can lead to problems. Now I hear that they are hitting us with a huge fee for shipping, this is FALSE ADVERTISING!! They never mentioned anything about an extra fee. I am enjoying watching Setanta, but I dont enjoy the fact that ITVN seems to conveniently not tell customers the unattractive details of ordering their product. I feel they are terribly false advertisers.

The extra Canadian charge really isn't ITVN's fault. They don't control government policies.

Yes but 56$ for the free box (it is free when you subscribe for 12 months) is just not acceptable.
Plus ITVN should put a note for canadian customers.
I'm returning the box since the picture is realy not the best and I can't record on a dvd recorder.
I'll have to pay return postage plus the custom fees.
Not the best of deals. Stay away from this product and wait until Telelatino comes up with a canadian version of Setanta...

Francois, when (if) Telelatino ever comes out with their release of Setanta in Canada, it will NOT be Setanta USA. It will be a Canadian Watereddown version, to follow CRTC guidelines; That's why ITVN is so impressive. We're ordering U.S. channels and with Starz on demand now, that's even better. I am as Canadian as the next guy, but I do not need my government telling me which channels I can or cannot order. I am happy, sure the quality is not standard digital quality, but it WILL get better once they start streaming at higher rates. I got my box, with no customs charge. My promotional code is 101096 free shipping BUT I believe they ship ground (longer to get.) BUT, I got min ground and I think there is less customs issue when shipped ground. Anyways, everyone has an opinion. I like it and I enjoyed MANY soccer games yesterday

I find it hard to believe that ANY of you are complaining about issues such as d/l caps and customs fees.
The d/l cap info can be found if you do your research, (as most w/any sort of concerns would do anyway). Plus, the DHL fees or whatever it's called, is the norm with absolutely any package that comes to Canada.
I order atleast one shirt a season from England (as said above) and with immediate family in England, there's packages coming to me on multiple occasions throughout the year. It sucks, but hey, you have to think about what you're getting out of the deal right.
IF you don't like it, you could always commute to the states and get it duty free. But for some reason, I think you'll be paying a hell of a lot more that the estimated $50 cad.
It's like finding yourself a new misses mate. You don't get ass for nothing.

 Post subject: Totally wrong
I am in total agreement that ITVN is dubious at best. I have had plenty of other packages and not been hit with FedEx Trade surcharges. ITVN IS 100% laible for this and are guilty of false advertising. If they can tell one person who complains to ship it back to them and they will reship it and those charges will go away then that shows that ITVN are at fault in the way they send these boxes. They charged me $20 for shipping ground which they were up front ( and I get stung one week later for an extra $42) about but do not tell me that this company had no idea that Canadians might get stung by this. When I phoned I get told they will look into it and have never heard of this complaint before.Give me a break. They have been in business for some time before they offered Setanta and as far as I am concerned they are not acting in good faith and are guilty of misleading us. A thoroughly unprofessional outfit.
Yes I need to see United but any future ITVN buyers need to know what they are in for and I would love to be in a position to tell them to shove it.
If you had local businesses acting this way you would never use them again. Even though I need to see United I have not got much faith that ITVN will even last long enough if they continue to operate this way.
What free trial is this. If I sent it back today I would lose $20 from when they shipped plus $20 to send back plus $42.81 .Some free trial
Just talked again to ITVN and they said they would get a hold of FedEX aand try to sort it out.Again they said this charge was news to them

First I would like to thank all of our loyal subscribers and their continued support.
With regard to Canadian orders; to say we're "hiding" the fact that you're responsible for custom fees is pretty harsh. As some of you have mentioned, importing anything from a foreign country usually involves custom fees. The same is true for ITVN. We're a USA based company shipping out of USA. If you live in Canada, be prepared for possible custom fees. Going forward we’re going to add measures to notify Canadian customers of potential custom fees. IPTV technology is new and we're probably going to run into snags … why don't you help us make the service better? Feel free to join our public forums located at http://www.itvnforums.com

YOU MISS the wentire point! Of COURSE people are complaining. You say that you can find out the info if you do lots of research. That is NONSENSE! We buy a product from ITVN...ITVN should tell us exactly what we are buying....we should NOT have to scan all over the internet to find out about issues that ITVN SHOULD tell all customers!!

I am in COMPLETE agreement with MUFC.... I NEED to watch United, but I am SHOCKED by ITVN and everyone who is thinking about buying ITVN NEEDS tobe aware of what they are getting themselves into. Not everyone has $50 to throw away.... I too am very scepticle of ITVN, and also woder how long the company will LAST. One thing I think is strange is that I bought this because Man Utd were supposedly not being shown on regular cable anymore, now the Tottenham game and Arsenal are both shown on the old cable and not LIVE on ITVN !! I am NOT saying dont buy ITVN, I am probably going to keep it since I have already spent the money... but I am a little worried that I have spent my money and this ITVN will tank in a month or two.

For anyone who’s actually interested in FACTS and not opinion … We've been in business long before having added Setanta to our lineup. Our recently additions show the direction we're heading. ITVN is a public company and you can read more about us here:

My point exactly. You have been in business a long time which makes your pratices more suspect. Your bottom line is more important than your integretity as a company. Stop replying to these posts Fabian. You are no friend of Canadians.

I am Canadian. I received the customs' fee. I am happy with my service. I am NOT mad at ITVN nor Fabian. Let me ask you all this: when you go to the store and buy a bell expressvu receiver, do you pay taxes? answer: YES. So why shouldn't u have to pay taxes when you buy this receiver online? Customs, taxes, all the same.

Hrmmm .... first, "stop replying" to a thread about my company? This is a public forum so I'll post whenever I want. Secondly, what have I said to make you suggest that I'm "no friend of Canadians"? Your statement is ridiculous.
I've openly stated that we're going to make changes to our checkout process to help keep customers from being surprised by custom fees when ordering from outside the U.S.A. If you want to continue attacking our company then that's your choice. We understand that we're not going to please everyone ... but be careful when making slanderous remarks.

In no way I feel riped off.
The only thing I'm wandering right now is it's worth it for me the change my ISP package to be able to get an unlimited download capacity to be able to get more viewing hours.
Now of course that's for me an extra $25.00 per month.
That is something I had no idea when I ordered your service and I'm sure you can correct this on your web site to make sure people are aware when they order.
Now Fabian, can you tell me why I can't get my LG dvd recorder to record Setanta. Do I need a special set up?
I'm still considering keeping ITVN but I need to make sure I can record games since a lot are during working hours.
As for customs, I still did not receive the bill for it but that, I can live with.
Is ITVN planning up-grades on the image quality?
If yes, what is the time frame for those?
Thanks for taking time to address these questions and I respect the fact that you are posting on this forum.

Post subject: ITVN cannot hide from facts
1. ITVN have a poor website form that will not catch Canadians putting in their postal code with a gap and will not send your box until you phone wondering where it is , but are sophisticated enough to take your money off your credit card.
2. No mention of possible download caps problem. ( why would they hurt their business by being honest and telling people with low caps that they might have a problem. It is the same mentality of selling gym memeberships when the gyms know that most people never really utilise them. Sell ITVN boxes and hope most peopel cannot be bothered to complain.
3. No telling Canadians that even though you will be charged $20 delivery you will get a shock about one week later from FedEx for a bill more than twice the shipping ammount already paid for a box that is only worth $99 and then saying that you are paying Customs charges and sorry but out of our hands.
This is not a company that cares about their customers but cares only about the bottom line and Fabian can postulate all he wants but he cannot hide from the above FACTS. Telling us that are rectifying these situations does not help anyone already put through this.
If the picture is bad enough with Setanta how can anyone even consider using this service to watch movies.Might as well go back to the 60's and watch black and white.

I’m not sure why you continue to dwell on points that we have NO control over, that we have fixed, or that we're currently working on fixing. This is my final response to you regarding this matter. Like I said before, you can’t make everyone happy.

Thanks Fabian! Looking forward to ITVN continuing to provide Setanta. I'm going to check out Starz too, a friend of mine signed up for a month and is telling me that the quality is actually really good.

Post subject: FABIAN GIVE ME A BREAK!!!
Fabian OF COURSE people are frustrated at ITVN! It is nothing personal. MUFC though has MANY good points! I am happy I ordered ITVN in the sense that Setanta is an AWESOME station, I however am quite shocked as was MUFC by the lack of clarity on the website as to the shipping, the custom fees, and the download cap. Dont tell me or the others that this is not something to be bothered by, dont tell us that everything is ok because ITVN is now finally getting its act together by beginning to fix there communication errors. I am NOT advocating that people dont buy ITVN- Setanta is EXCELLENT-, what I am doing is warning people of problems they may get into when buying it. I feel in many ways that ITVN conveniently forgot to explain all the details, this only makes me wonder how reliable the company really is. Reliable companies dont hide facts.
