Post subject: Charity Shield on tv??????????????????
An earlier thread, by Robin, indicated that FSWC may be showing the game. Anyone know if this is true?

So it looks like we have no coverage of the Charity Shield and England vs. Greece ...
No FSWC (big shock there) - No PPV.....
So if a bar shows it and it is only on FSC - Is it not illegal -- Since FSC is not allowed/authorized in Canada?
Just a question

Who cares who is showing it as long as we get to see the game some where.

It would only be illegal if there was an authorized Canadian distributor (Sportsnet, The Score, PPV) that had the rights. Then you would be infringing on their Canadian copyright.
It's hard to believe that Fox Sports International (the North American rights holder) have yet to find a Canadian carrier for this game.

I agree as long as we get to see the matches.
But - my point should have been bars charging in for matches when they shouldn't
Example:
$20 in to see the charity sheild
$20 or $30 to see an English friendly

The appropiate and contracted cover charges are:
England friendlies . - $10.00
England WC and Euro 2008 Qualifying - $20.00
The Canadian rights holder require that the bars charge this admission in order to create a level playing field for everyone.
Bars that charge admission to games they themselves do not pay for (i.e. 2006 Community Shield) are nothing more than stealing from their customers and when the supporters find this out it will hurt the bars in the long run.
Bars that steal the signal for authorized PPV events are usually taken to the Federal Court of Canada by the rights holder and sued for copyright infringment.
With no authorized Canadian carrier, as yet, of the Community Shield any bar that charges admission to this game should be put in the same category as those who pour short pints. Better still, post their names here so we know not where to spend our money.

It is true the Charity Shield is on FSWC this sunday.
Here is part of the eMail I received this aft. from comments@GLOBAL.COM
"Hello,
Thank you for taking the time to write us here at FOX Sports World Canada. I have forwarded your comments and email to our senior programmers. If it's any consolation, there was a late addition to this week's schedule. We will in fact be airing the Community Shield match with Chelsea vs. Liverpool live on Sunday, Aug. 13 @ 10am ET. Thanks again for your email and comments."

Yahooo!
I noticed this last night on FSWC...they had removed the "Only in USA" message on the Community Shield graphic. Time to put on my Reds sweater and enjoy my coffee from my Reds mug in the comfort of my Lazyboy.
Life is good!

Lets just hope it's actually one, because the IPG on my Digi box does not have it listed.
Oh well, it was usually PPV anyway, so no complaints.
May even go to the pub for this one.
OUch, no beverages til 11. Almost forgot.

It was a real pleasure to watch the Community Shield on Sunday morning, although I had this gnawing feeling that I was getting all pumped up to watch the game only to be hit with a last minute change. This made my $2.50 a month worth it
I'm just hoping that FSWC follows through on the schedule that I saw for the fall...Sky Sports (albeit a bit on the late side), Premier League Weekly review, Bobby McMahon and the occasional treat like yesterday has me continuing with FSWC (I was thinking of getting rid of it after the limited World Cup coverage and the summer soccer drought).
