 Post subject: The Score
Does the Score's Brian Budd drive anybody else crazy?
Man this guy is so over-the-top annoying. I purposely don't watch the pre-game show and halftime report of the EPL games on the Score so I don't have to listen to his rambling.
Those updates in the middle of the game by James Sharman are terrible as well, especially as he's telling us about games that were played on Saturday! What's the point of that?
Also, they need to get rid of the ticker.

According to their CRTC licences, THE SCORE are obliged to show up a ticker 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 (366) days per year. Also, I prefer to watch a game with a ticker in front of no game!

Yes, Budd is the guy that sits between P James and the host.
I just find him so bloody, over-the-top annoying and he doesn't know what he's talking about half the time.
get rid of him... he's lousy.

oH YES. You mean that prat who has no chin, sounds like he ought to be in the WWE and talks with his hands??
You mean him.
And yes, that ballerina guy........... I can't even begin to explain how funny he is.
It's not that they don't know much about the game, it's the way they present it.
They'll learn in time. No worries.
The only problem I'd have (if indeed what I heard is true) is when they begin to broadcast CL matches.
Now.......I can get by with the premiership matches. because I tape the scores broadcast and watch the FSWC one live.
But the group stages of the CL??? No chance. There's a million matches going on @ once and the ticker will have all the scores.

Much as Brian Budd annoys me, not to mention the ticker and the updates, I think we shouldn't lose sight of the fact that we're getting a live game. Considering the way FSWC bailed out on Sunday games, we should be thankful. Live soccer is still a bit of a risky proposition for Canadian channels so let's be happy The Score picked up the slack.

I wish The Score was still showing the Sunday games, they defiantly would have the Newcastle VS Man U, they just show it earlier then repeat it at 11:00 again.

Post subject: Score to Air Premier League Soccer on Multiple Platforms
Multi-platform coverage of the Premier League Soccer starts in Canada this August, the result of a new deal between The Score Television Network and Barclay’s Premiere League (BPL).
The multi-cast deal was announced even as speculation ensued that The Score would soon be on the auction block. Alliance Atlantis has declined to buy offered shares of The Score, and contractual obligations indicate that a third party buyer for voting shares in The Score may be sought after 120 days.
In the meantime, however, Score Media has secured the exclusive Canadian online and mobile highlight rights to every BPL game for the next three seasons. Score Media’s cross platform coverage of the BPL will include features and highlights online at theScore.ca and on mobile phones across Canada as part of the Score Mobile Video service.
Score Media Inc.’s wholly-owned subsidiary, The Score Television Network Ltd, that, for the next three seasons, it will be the exclusive Canadian broadcaster of the BPL’s 11:00 AM (ET) Sunday matches, which feature the premier BPL match-up of the week. The Score’s broadcasts will begin on August 12, 2007 and will be available in high definition on The Score HD.
The Score also announced that it will be launching a new program, The Footy Show, focusing on the world of soccer. Hosted by The Score’s James Sharman, the new show will keep viewers on top of international soccer including previews and recaps of all of the week’s BPL matches. Original episodes of the show will air Fridays from 6:30 - 7:30 PM, Saturdays from 6:00 - 7:00 PM, Sundays from 10:30 – 11:00 AM, and Mondays from 6:30 – 7:00 PM.
“We are extremely pleased to be able to offer our viewers the key BPL match of the week,” said David Errington, Senior Vice President and General Manager, The Score Television Network, in a release. “And with the addition of The Footy Show, we will keep hardcore soccer fans up to date on the world of international soccer.”
In addition, Score Media has secured the exclusive Canadian online and mobile highlight rights to every BPL game for the next three seasons. Score Media’s cross platform coverage of the BPL will include features and highlights online at theScore.ca and on mobile phones across Canada as part of the Score Mobile Video service.
“Our young audience is online and on their cell phones as much as they are watching TV,” added Benjamin Levy, Senior Vice President, Score Media Ventures. “This deal allows our fans to get our soccer coverage on whatever platform they choose – whenever and where ever they are.”
The initial television broadcast schedule of games to air on The Score and The Score HD has been released; the broadcast schedule for the remainder of the year will be available online at theScore.ca/epl as it becomes available from the Premier League. Score Media will sublicense the remaining games from its BPL package to Setanta Sports.
Score Media announced last week that its principal shareholder, Levfam Holdings, has advised the Company that Alliance Atlantis Communications Inc. has declined to purchase the Class A Subordinate Voting Shares and Special Voting Shares of Score Media held by Levfam and its affiliates and associates for a price of $2.90 per share, which were offered to Alliance Atlantis on June 20, 2007 pursuant to a Respective Rights Agreement made November 24, 2000, to which Levfam, Alliance Atlantis and Score Media are parties.
The provisions of the Respective Rights Agreement provide that Levfam will now have a period of 120 days during which it may enter into a binding agreement to sell its shares in Score Media to one or more third parties, provided that such sale is made for a price and on terms and conditions no more favourable than those offered to Alliance Atlantis in the notice. However, there can be no assurance that any such transaction will occur, the company reported.
I thought the score will show the saturday and sunday games wtf is going here if I dont pay to have Sentanta sports I get no Saturday games what is FSWC showing?

i read somewhere that Sportsnet lost the saturday games to TLN who're starting a new channel with Setanta. I think its called RCS (rugby, cricket, soccer) i thought thats what FSWC was supposed to do when it started. I hope Cogeco picks up this new channel right away. I don't want to miss the beginning of the season.
One more tidbit RCS still hasb't finished their CRTC liscensing, so they may not even make it before the beginning of the season.

ExpressVu have stated it will be in time for the EPL season, but if we all use the example of GOLTV Canada, we should get it by February!
I am not taking a chance and sticking with ITVN for one more season or at least until my contract runs out in September. After that I'll re-new on a month by month basis. If anyone is interested:

i called Cogeco yesterday about Setanta sports after seeing the news release on livesoccertv.com. Tey had no idea what i was talking about and suggested that i call back on the 11th of Aug. I think i'll wait till then, especially since Man.Utd. play on Sunday and its on the Score.

I heartily agree with the comments about this annoying individual. Some one please tell him the shut up. Commentry is not a competition to see how much we can try to say in as little time as possible. The man is over the top and doesn't know what he is talking about.
Also. Will someone please tell the personnel to stop saying "Its a PK". Its a penalty. Thats all. God forbid we should have a "FK".

Exactly right. Budd seems to try to say the biggest amount of nonsense in the shortest time, and in the end says nothing that makes any sense. Get rid of him.

what's not mentioned here is that Score is the only channel showing EPL soccer in HD - a big plus and we can switch Brian off as said earlier. Also if you have a widescreen TV put it in zoom mode - you lose the tickertape ad there is little,if any, loss of picture quality.
