Super Mario is to the Stade Vélodrome!

Italian and Nice striker Mario Balotelli is on the verge of securing a move to Ligue 1 outfit Olympique Marseille. On Tuesday afternoon, French news outlet La Provence announced that the 28-year-old was on his way to the training grounds of Marseille ahead of his free transfer from Nice.

The move somewhat comes out of the blue as recent report suggested that the ex-AC Milan striker was offered to Sassuolo by his agent Mino Raiola. He was said to have been identified as a potential replacement for his former teammate Kevin-Prince Boateng who completed a shock move to Barcelona on Monday.

Balotelli will reportedly sign a six-month contract where he will earn 3 million euros during the spell. The former Manchester City star will reportedly complete his medical on Wednesday and will be subsequently be outdoored to fans of Marseille.

Following a forgettable spell with Liverpool and AC Milan between 2014 and 2016, the 28-year-old striker has experience massive renaissance following his move to the Ligue 1.

Since joining Nice in 2016, the Italian has managed 43 goals in 76 appearances across all competitions as compared to his seven goals in 51 appearances in his previous stint with Liverpool and AC Milan.
