Pep Guardiola is not interested in adding more high-profile players to his squad, having spent quite a bit of money last season.

Contrary to initial reports, Manchester City is not interested in making a move to sign Juventus' midfielder Miralem Pjanic.

According to Pep Guardiola's words, the Citizens will not enter a transfer war for the footballer, who's been linked with a move to Barcelona by Spanish sources. In fact, the Spanish boss has come out to reveal there will be no high-priced transfers for his team this summer.

Guardiola seems keen to hand some academy players, such as Claudio Gomes, a chance to fight for a spot in the team's roster, according to words collected by the Manchester Evening News.

My opinion is that at that age you have to play. You need minutes, if not with us then with the second team. But it could be like what happened with Phil Foden and Brahim Diaz - he could stay with us, because from what we have seen in these days, the impression is good, so good," Guardiola stated.

Even if the Citizens have been linked with other players such as Thiago Alcántara, Mateo Kovacic and Mario Lemina, it seems that the current Premier League champions will save some money during this transfer window, rather than splashing cash like they did one year ago.
