The 2018 World Cup is a major event all around the globe, but unfortunately, it's not all good when it comes to how FIFA wants it to reach the masses.
Every World Cup has been handed its official anthem. There were some unforgettable ones, such as Ricky Martin's "The Cup of Life" in 1998, or 2010's "Waka Waka" by Shakira. This year, the task was handed to reggaeton singer Nicky Jam, and the result has been disappointing, to say the least.
Featuring actor/singer Will Smith and Era Istrefi, the track fails to embody what a FIFA World Cup anthem should include, especially since a line in the song says "we've been waiting for this all year", and as you know, the tournament is held every four years.
Before we get to the reactions, listen to the 2018 FIFA World Cup song.
Without further ado, here's how fans reacted to the song.
Sorry but "Live it Up" the official 2018 FIFA World Cup song is horrible. I'm disappointed.

The World Cup song doesn't have any football ring to it. Blegh. How is Messi gonna dance to Live it up?!

PROS:
- About World Cup
- *vague* sport references ("team" etc)
CONS:
- Dreadful
- Inevitably linked to English failure
- Features highly relevant Will Smith
- "We've been waiting for this all year" is a clear misunderstanding that it's held every 4 years pic.twitter.com/ayJLveWOtM
This World Cup song live it up is so dumb....

Once upon a time, World Cup's official songs used to be nice. #NowPlaying "Live It Up (Official Song 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia) [feat. Will Smith & Era Istrefi]" by Nicky Jam on #Anghami https://t.co/HCeSOsBA0P pic.twitter.com/SNksMBcMHG

Granted there will never be another World Cup song that will top Waka Waka well because no one ever will beat Shakira but this song Live it up is complete buns.
