This could soon spell the end for Antonio Conte.

It is no secret that Antonio Conte will likely leave Chelsea over the summer after a two-year spell with the club. The Italian boss may have won the FA Cup a few days back, but his failure to make the Champions League and clashes with the board mean his days are numbered.

Maurizio Sarri is one name constantly being linked with the Stamford Bridge job after almost winning Serie A with Napoli. He is under contract with the Italian outfit, but according to recent reports, he could soon become a free agent.

According to the Sun, Carlo Ancelotti is on the brink of taking over Partenopei. The former Bayern Munich tactician has been out of work since being sacked by the Bundesliga giant but has recently met with Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis.

The reason for this is that De Laurentiis has been put off by Sarri’s reluctance to commit to the club, having recently admitted that “it is now too late” and that the club must “move on” with their plan. The Napoli president thus reportedly met with Ancelotti on Monday night in Rome.

CalcioNapoli24 take the rumors a step further by claiming his appointment will be announced in the next 24 hours, with the contract being drawn up. If true, Sarri will be relieved of his duties and will be free to join any team he wants.

The Blues will not have to pay compensation to land Maurizio if he is axed by Napoli. They will thus have the green light to land their target for the managerial seat.
