Preview

Juventus have already clinched the Coppa Italia after cruising to a 4-0 win over AC Milan and are seeking to win the domestic double yet again. A point here would suffice for them, even if they somehow manage to lose their last game against Hellas Verona (although that's highly unlikely).

It's been an interesting Scudetto battle this season, with Napoli refusing to give up, although the Partenopei have effectively sabotaged themselves due to their bad showings in their last two games. After forcing their way back into contention by beating Juve 1-0 in Turin, they then went on to lose 3-0 to Fiorentina and then draw 2-2 to Torino, thus giving the Bianconeri the breathing room they thus needed. Massimiliano Allegri's men have been quite active in all three competitions this term and have already clinched one piece of silverware earlier this week.

By contrast, Napoli opted to throw all their efforts into only winning the Scudetto and that seems to have backfired horribly, as they failed to make inroads in the Champions League, in the Europa League, and the Coppa Italia. And with just two games to go, their Scudetto dream is all but over, so they will have nothing to show for their efforts at the conclusion of this season.

Roma, meanwhile, have had a very impressive term. Although they won't win any silverware, Eusebio Di Francesco's side deserves some applause for their strong efforts both in the league and especially in the Champions League. The Giallorossi weren't even expected to get out of a very tough quartet that included Chelsea and Atletico Madrid, but they managed to do so and even topped the group, thus recieving a more favorable round of 16 draw in Ukrainian outfit Shakhtar Donetsk. And when written off by most against a heavily favored Barcelona side, they silenced the especially overconfident Catalan press, who had already started to predict who the Blaugrana's opponents would be by overturning a 4-1 deficit to dump Lionel Messi & Co. out of the competition.

Despite not being able to replicate that same result against Jurgen Klopp's impressive Liverpool, they put on a good show and preserved their unbeaten home streak in the Champions League, which provided for a highly entertaining two-legged semi-finals for fans and neutrals in which 13 goals were scored on both sides. The Lupi will be looking to secure third spot to make sure they're back in the Champions League next season as their deep run now guarantees them some big bucks they could spend in the upcoming transfer market.
