The Portuguese ace was taken off at half-time after suffering an ankle strain in the 2-2 Camp Nou draw.

Sunday’s clash saw Real Madrid lose a chance to end Barcelona’s unbeaten run.  Despite Sergi Roberto’s first-half red card, Los Blancos only managed a 2-2 draw with the league champion – albeit some controversial refereeing decisions went against them.

However, the scoreline isn’t what had most fans worried. Instead, the Merengues faithful were left sweating over the fitness of Cristiano Ronaldo, who picked up an injury in the Camp Nou trip.

The Portuguese superstar scored Real Madrid’s first equalizer 15 minutes after kick off but appeared to hurt his ankle along the way. The five-time Ballon d’Or winner was thus withdrawn at half-time, being substituted by Asensio once the break was over.

With the Champions League final not too far away, fears emerged over Ronaldo’s fitness for the Kyiv clash. Zidane, however, was quick to calm down the worries.

"It doesn't feel good right now, but I think it's going to be small [problem], it's just a knock," the French tactician said, as per Marca.

"Don't worry about the final, he will be there.

"I cannot tell you how long [Ronaldo will be out for], but he said that he thinks it isn't much. We will see tomorrow.

"We will see what we have to do, and the damage that has been done. It was a little swollen, but as I say, it wasn't much."

The 33-year-old will be a key player for the Madrid giant in their clash with Liverpool. He is currently the top scorer in the Champions League this season and will be keen on continuing his fine form in front of goal in the May 26 encounter.

Cristiano will be given tons of rest in the team’s remaining Spanish Primera Division games with the hope of being fully fit for the final later this month. Only time will tell whether the former Man United winger will be at 100 percent when they lock horns with Salah and Co.
