He was slammed by the Dutch manager for conceding two goals between his legs.

Chelsea’s Courtois has recently been on the receiving end of tons of trolling after allowing both goals scored by Messi in the UCL Round of 16 second leg game to pass through his legs. His predicament was deepened when former Manchester United manager slated him for the manner in which he conceded the goals.

Speaking to Ziggo Sports, Mr. Van Gaal declared:

“The game was turned upside down due to the blunder of Courtois [for Messi’s first goal] which I think is a big blunder.

“If he’d have had [Dutch former Manchester United goalkeeping coach] Frans Hoek as goalkeeper coach, he would have closed his legs.

“That just should not be allowed to happen.”

The Chelsea goalkeeper, in turn, hasn't taken the criticism so well and has asserted that Van Gaal “is not allowed to talk about goalkeepers” as he has never been in the post before.

“When I hear so-called experts talking, I think they know nothing about goalkeeping — for example, Van Gaal should not talk about goalkeepers,” Courtois expressed to Sporza while away on international duty with Belgium.

His country has been tipped as one of the favorites of the upcoming World Cup and they will feature against Saudi Arabia in preparatory friendly on Tuesday.
