The left back’s latest comments have fueled speculations which suggest that Neymar could become a Real Madrid player soon.

Marcelo and his compatriot Neymar will be on opposites sides when Real Madrid face Paris Saint-Germain in the Round of 16 of this season's UEFA Champions League campaign. However, the former believes the ex-Barcelona sensation will be his teammate on the club level at a point in his career.

Speaking exclusively in an interview with Esporte Interativo on Sunday, Marcelo made his assertions clear.

"I think Neymar will play for Real Madrid one day.

"Would Neymar fit at Real Madrid? He would fit, for sure.

"It would be great if he came to Real Madrid,” Marcelo declared.

"In my opinion, the great players have to play at this club."

The Real Madrid assistant skipper went on to praise Unai Emery's side ahead of their midweek clash.

"PSG has a great team with great players,” the full-back added.

"Real Madrid has an incredible history with the competition.

"The club's name means something, it's going to be a game everyone will want to see."

It may be that Marcelo merely uttered these words about Neymar in a bid to unsettle the Parisians ahead of the impending crunch encounter at the Bernabeu. The 26-year-old Brazilian forward is undoubtedly a threat to the aspirations of the Merengues, having scored 11 times in just seven appearances in 2018. He further boasts a total of 28 goals in 27 appearances across all competitions this season.

Nevertheless, fans of Real Madrid may not be overly intimidated by Neymar's exploits considering the performance of their side in the weekend’s big win over Real Sociedad which was, of course, aided by a Cristiano Ronaldo hat-trick.
