The Portuguese ace was reportedly unhappy at seeing both Neymar and Messi earn more than him.

Cristiano Ronaldo has finally received the raise he has been asking for. This is according to Spanish paper ABC (as per the Mirror) which claims Los Blancos accepted his demand for better terms.

The Portuguese superstar had reportedly been unhappy at seeing Lionel Messi and Neymar sign higher-paying contracts at their respective clubs. Rumors suggested that the current Ballon d’Or holder asked for better wages in order to compete with the two South American aces.

As written by ABC, the former Man United winger will get an increase of $11m. This means the attacker will earn a total of $37.4m annually from the 12-time Champions League winner.

If this report is true, this hike is enough to see Ronaldo leapfrog Neymar in the list of highest-paid footballers. Unfortunately, he will still be second best to Messi in that category.

It should be noted that while Cristiano salary will increase, the duration of his deal will not. This new agreement does not extend his Santiago Bernabeu stay.

As a result, the question marks over his Real Madrid future will linger. Despite pledging his future to the club, the attacker’s poor form and age will make him a target of exit rumors.
