The 1995 Ballon D'Or winner is now president elect of his home country after winning the ballot by a landslide.

Former AC Milan player and Ballon D'Or winner George Weah will become Liberia's next president after winning the elections in his country in a second round of voting. This was Weah's second attempt to win the presidency, but he was defeated by current president Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, the first female president in that country.

Weah is the only African footballer up to this date to win the Ballon D'Or and the FIFA World Player of the year Award. His career included stints at AC Milan, PSG, Chelsea, Manchester City and Monaco, among other clubs.

The former footballer scored 268 goals in 528 matches played, and now, he'll try to experience a smooth transfer of power, something that hasn't happened in country in over 70 years.

Weah joins other former players such as Romario (Brazilian senator) and Socrates (creator of a political party) to enter politics.
