The biggest news for Manchester City, of course, is the fact that star striker Sergio Aguero won't be available to play for this match. The Argentinian international was involved in an unfortunate car accident recently after attending a concert, and due to fractured ribs, is now set to miss out for the next few months for both club and country. That comes as a major blow as he was joint-tied alongside Manchester United's Romelu Lukaku and Chelsea's Alvaro Morata on six goals in an early race for the top scorer in the Premier League. In addition to Aguero, new signing Benjamin Mendy is also out for the long haul due to a knee injury.
Injuries aside, Pep Guardiola's side have had an excellent start to the campaign. City are still unbeaten so far and have racked up 21 goals in just six games. However, they have a frustrating record at Stamford Bridge, winning just one of their last seven at this ground and failed to beat Chelsea both home and away last season.
Meanwhile, Chelsea are still missing David Luiz due to suspension, whilst Danny Drinkwater is not expected to make his return until after the international hiatus. Pedro, however, is expected to feature after not playing during Chelsea's hard-fought 2-1 win over Atletico Madrid midweek.
Since an opening day loss to Burnley, Chelsea have won seven out of their last eight games across all competitions. The only minor blip was a 0-0 draw with Arsenal. Still, Manchester City are no slouches themselves as they've yet to lose any game so far this season - whether it's in the Premier League or in the Champions League. Still, Guardiola has a very frustrating record against Chelsea. Will Conte be able to get the better of him for the third straight time?
