The Spanish midfielder missed the last couple of games with a thigh injury, but that's the least of concerns for Los Blaugranas' board.

The end of Barcelona's golden age seems to be coming to a close, as one of their icons has cast a major cloud of doubt over his future.

In an interview published by El País, the legendary playmaker from Fuentealbilla admitted that, for the first time in his career, he's considering to leave the only club he's ever played for.

"Let me put it this way. Right now, I'm having feelings I had never experienced before. It's a scenario I couldn't have pictured three years ago. I still haven't signed a contract extension, and now more than ever, I'm thinking about what's best for me in the immediate future," Iniesta stated.

The midfielder, who's won more titles than any other footballer in Barcelona's history, hinted that his refusal to sign another deal might have to do with the board's lack of interest to have him around.

"We all like to feel loved and respected. Even though I've always felt that here, sometimes you get an idea about that love and that respect being lost. This club can't afford disrespecting those who have given everything to defend their crest, and sometimes it feels like there's no more respect here," the Spaniard added.

Despite losing the first major title of the season under new coach Ernesto Valverde, the talented player hoped for the best in this new stage for the club with a new manager.

"Those who have played here for a very long time are used to a certain idea, and all our coaches know that. But even then, they are allowed to bring their vision into the mix. We know Valverde's teams are very recognizable, and we just have to hope this will be the case with us as well," Iniesta concluded.
