Hosts in miserable run of form...and now adrift without their skipper

Orlando City

The Lions are hardly roaring at the moment. They come into this game having lost 3-1 to New York Red Bulls, which means they have now failed to win nine out of their last ten games across all competitions. Most recently, they have lost five out of their last six and currently sit eighth in the MLS Eastern Conference. Overall, in league play they have won just two games since the end of April and have done quite poorly even at home, where they have won just one out of their last seven league matches.

Not exactly promising reading ahead of Columbus Crew's visit, especially since they will be missing key playmaker Kaka due to suspension. On top of that, striker Dom Dwyer, who earned his debut with the USMNT earlier this summer and just arrived from Sporting Kansas City, won't be able to play as he is out with an injury.

Columbus Crew

Despite beating Chicago Fire 3-1, the Crew have won just four out of their last ten league games, whilst losing five of those. In addition, they have shipped at least two goals in all but one of their last ten road fixtures, meaning that this could really be an end-to-end encounter. In fact, Columbus Crew's porous defense has seen them ship three or more goals in eight out of their last nine road matches, and given that Orlando City have seen three or more goals in four out of their last seven home games, this truly could be one of those high scoring clashes as both teams will be desperate for some much needed points.
