To add further embarrassment, Ancelotti's men weren't able to score a single goal, and to make matters worse, James Rodriguez and Thiago Alcántara will have to spend time on the sidelines after picking up injuries.
In a brief press release, the Bundesliga champions revealed that James Rodriguez will need more time to heal from his injury. Meanwhile, Alcántara's muscular injury could have him ready sooner, but not soon enough to play in the DFB Supercup this Saturday.
"FC Bayern will have to make do without new signing James Rodríguez in the coming weeks. A thorough examination by FC Bayern's medical unit revealed that the Colombian sustained a muscle injury to his right thigh in the 3-0 Audi Cup semi-final defeat to Liverpool. Thiago Alcántara will miss the Supercup final against Borussia Dortmund on Saturday with an abdominal muscle injury. David Alaba, who had to be subbed off against Liverpool as well, received treatment on Wednesday and will train individually on Thursday," can be read on Bayern's English website.
Bayern will have to step things up a bit if they want to clear their name, following a disappointing end to their pre-season. Ancelotti's men lost five of their last six games, including an embarrassing 4-0 loss against Inter and the aforementioned 3-0 loss against the Reds.
