The Chilean striker will return to the Gunners' training sessions after spending some time off, with rumors about his departure on the rise.

Alexis Sanchez's future could be sorted out this weekend, as the Chilean striker nears a return to Arsenal's training grounds.

While the Gunners play against Sevilla in the Emirates Cup, Sánchez and Shkodran Mustafi will return from their respective breaks to train with the North London side. Speculation about Sánchez's future has surrounded Arsenal for quite some time now, particularly due to the player's lack of commitment to sign a new deal.

In an interview with Arsenal Player, coach Arsene Wenger revealed the player will be back with the team during the weekend, and even hinted that he's counting on him to be ready for the first EPL clash of the season.

"Alexis and Mustafi, their first training session will be on Sunday, the day we play against Sevilla [in the Emirates Cup]. They are practising on the day," Wenger stated.

"After, once you know where you stand, they need an adjusted programme and to see how quickly you can fit them in again. It is easier to put a striker on the bench than a defender, sometimes. Because in a short period they can make an impact. We’ll see," Wenger added.

With Manchester City and PSG following Sánchez's footsteps closely, if the Gunners fail to seal a new deal with the striker, they risk losing him on a free transfer next summer. Alexis Sánchez has proven to be quite effective since his arrival, and his departure would become a massive blow for Wenger's squad if it ends happening.
