The Serie A giants admit having talks with the player's agent, which has been deemed as surplus to the Blues' requirements for next season.

Atlético Madrid's plans of having Diego Costa around in January could be at risk, considering that AC Milan has openly admitted they met with the player's agent.

The striker, who's been training on his own all summer, was given the option to search for other employment opportunities by his boss, Antonio Conte, who doesn't want anything to do with the striker next season. Initially, Costa was close to re-joining Atlético Madrid, but Los Colchoneros can't sign any new players due to a transfer ban, forcing the Brazilian-born striker to look elsewhere.

With that in mind, AC Milan's chairman Marco Fassone admitted talks between the rossoneri and Jorge Mendes, but refuse to spill out the details of such a meeting.

"We went to see Jorge Mendes; there is a lot you can talk to him about. Diego Costa is a great player - but he is a Chelsea player and I would prefer to avoid talking about players from other teams," Fassone stated.

The rossoneri have been one of the top spending sides in European football this summer, signing players such as Leonardo Bonucci, Lucas Biglia, André Silva and Hakan Calhanoglu.
