La Roja hold an advantage over Germany thanks to a superior goal difference. La Roja face Australia in their final group stage game needing only a draw to qualify. However, only victory will ensure the South Americans a top-spot finish.
Germany (4 points, goal difference: +1)
Die Mannschaft’s 1-1 draw with means that the World Cup champions can still win the group. They must score enough goals past Cameroon to overcome the goal difference, or hope La Roja slip up against the Socceroos.
Australia (1 point, goal difference: -1)
With the same number of goals scored as Chile, the Australian champions need only to beat the Copa America winners 2-0 to pip them to qualification.
Cameroon (1 point, goal difference: -2)
The Indomitable Lions must not only be excellent to beat Germany, but must also hope that the Chile vs Australia result goes in their favor. Cameroon must beat die Mannschaft by four goals without reply to avoid complication. That result would be enough to put the African champions ahead of Chile should Australia triumph.
