Wayne Rooney’s time at Manchester United is nearing its end. The Englishman, once the league’s best striker, is now only a fraction of what he used to be, and thus struggles to make his own team’s starting eleven.
As a result, the Red Devils legend has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford, with the Chinese Super League his likeliest destination. The Far East is the best option, as it would offer him first-team football whilst meeting his high wage demands.
Fans have now been given insight into when the 31-year-old could leave Man United, courtesy of the Mirror. The British tabloid claim that the 20-time Premier League champions have sanctioned the move which would see Rooney become the highest-paid footballer in the world.
With the Chinese transfer window deadline being Tuesday, Rooney’s move to China will probably be finalized by the 28th. Unfortunately, the Man United striker won’t get the sending off befitting of his remarkable Old Trafford stay.
Jose Mourinho’s men will play two games before the 28th – one being on Wednesday. The earlier of the two fixtures is a trip to St. Etienne in the Europa League. That game will be followed by the League Cup final vs. Southampton at Wembley, on Sunday, which Rooney will likely miss due to injury.
