The Belgian ace will undergo further tests to determine how much time he'll spend out of the pitch, but things are not looking good for the midfielder.

Manchester City's title defense will be tougher than initially expected, as one of their key players from last season might not be available for quite some time.

Kevin De Bruyne had to walk out of the team's training session today, as he has apparently picked up a nasty knee injury. Those near the footballer admitted that the player could miss the next two months recovering from the injury, but this will be determined tomorrow, when the footballer undergoes a series of tests.

The team issued a short press release on their website that raises some doubts about the player's fitness.

"Kevin De Bruyne is undergoing tests on his right knee after sustaining an injury at training on Wednesday. The extent of the problem is not yet known and we will bring you further updates on Kevin's condition in due course," the document states.

The 27-year-old midfielder was crucial for Man City's record-breaking campaign last season, scoring 12 goals and handing out 21 assists in all comps for Pep Guardiola's men. To make matters worse, the transfer window is not open in England, which means that the Spanish boss will have to work with what he's got right now to replace one of his best footballers in the event of a lengthy absence.
