President Enrique Cerezo admitted that this trophy will give them a good idea of where they stand ahead of what will be a special season.

Despite not being able to beat their bitter rivals in recent European meetings, there's something about this Atlético Madrid team that makes president Enrique Cerezo dream big about tonight's game.

Speaking prior to the team's departure to the stadium, Cerezo urged his team to live up to what fans expect from them , having one of the best squads in team history.

"We have high hopes. We know anyone can win, but we have to be confident about our chances. We have to be cautious, because we're playing against the European champions, but any day is a good day to beat our bitter rivals," Cerezo stated.

Cerezo admitted that having players reporting to the team's preparations just this Monday might not be ideal, but the team's depth will surely help when the game begins.

"Both teams had to deal with players arriving late to our respective camps. We have to understand that this is still a pre-season game, and we have to be cautious when we go out there, but the main goal is to take the trophy home," the president added.

Atlético's main man revealed that the main goal this season will be none other than playing the UEFA Champions League final. Why? Because their new stadium will be hosting that match.

"We have to work hard. The UCL final takes place at the Wanda Metropolitano, and we will do everything in our power to be there," Cerezo concluded.
