The Spanish defender revealed the contents of a conversation he had with the world's most expensive player last summer.

No one would have been taken by surprise about Neymar's desire to leave Barcelona if they had talked with Xavi.

The former Barcelona midfielder, who played two seasons with the Brazilian wingman, shared a few details about a conversation both of them had at Lionel Messi's wedding, where PSG's star revealed to the Blaugrana icon his desire to bid farewell to the Spanish side.

"He told me he wanted to be transferred. I asked him why, and he told me he wasn't really happy at Barcelona. He told me he wanted to face a new challenge at PSG, and I told him that if he had made up his mind, we would have to respect his decision," Xavi told BBC.

Xavi was seen as one of the most respected players in Barcelona's locker room, which may have caused Neymar to talk about this issue with the Spaniard.

Xavi's words may come as no surprise, as some of Barcelona's players like Gerard Piqué have admitted that Neymar told them during Messi's wedding party that he wanted to leave the Blaugrana outfit.

Speaking about Neymar's first season with Les Parisiens, Xavi hinted that the Brazilian's signing, along with Kylian Mbappé's skills, could finally give the French club a chance to fight for the UEFA Champions League title.

"I think that this could be it for them. With Neymar and Mbappé around, PSG has a real shot at winning the UEFA Champions League," the Blaugrana legend concluded.
