The Uruguayan's low form with Barcelona and the national team may have a medical explanation.

Luis Suárez's start of the season with club and country hasn't been what fans anticipated, especially because he's only been able to score twice in six games for Los Blaugranas. The three most recent games played by Uruguay have seen the striker going blank, raising questions about the reason behind his slump.

According to Catalunya Radio, the player has been performing with a knee problem he picked up during the Spanish Super Cup against Real Madrid. Initially, Barcelona's doctors suggested a three-week period to fully recover from the problem, but he forced himself to help Uruguay reach the World Cup.

La Celeste is virtually qualified for the global tournament, and with that in mind, doctors have suggested Suárez to undergo surgery next month, so that he can recover in time for the final month of the year, keeping himself available for El Clásico, set to take place on December 23.
