About Scottish League Cup
The Scottish League Cup is a football competition open to all Scottish Football League and Scottish Premier League clubs. At present it is also known as the Co-operative Insurance Cup owing to the sponsorship deal in place with Co-operative Insurance Society. In the past it has been sponsored by Coca-Cola, Skol Lager, and Bell's Whisky. The competition, like the Scottish Cup, is currently a straight knockout format.
Celtic are the current holders after defeating Rangers at Hampden Park on 15 March 2009. After the match was drawn 0-0 after normal time, it went to extra time in which Celtic scored two goals at opposite ends of the time, a Darren O'Dea header in the 1st minute of extra time and an Aiden McGeady penalty in the 33rd minute.
Currently, the domestic television and radio rights are held by BBC Scotland.
