The Campeonato Paranaense is the top football division in the Brazilian state of Paraná. This tournament was launched in 1915, making it one of the oldest in this country. It is also known as Serie Ouro.
Over the years, the Campeonato Paranaense has been played under a promotion-relegation system, with the two least successful teams in the tournament being relegated to Serie Prata, an alternative name to Segunda Divisao, the official name of the lower-tier league. The top eight teams in this championship enter a final stage, where they will play two-legged ties all the way to the final, where the best team in the regular season will be given home-field advantage for the return leg. In case the teams are level after both games, penalties will be taken to determine the winner.
The Campeonato Paranaense has been dominated by two teams: Coritiba and Athletico Paranaense. Both teams have combined to win over 60 titles in this competition, with Coritiba setting a record with six consecutive titles between 1971 and 1976.
The Campeonato Paranaense has been covered over the years by both TV and streaming platforms. Recent editions of the tournament have been streamed live and on-demand by NSports and OneFootball in Brazil, a deal that has guaranteed coverage of this competition until 2025.
