About Olympic Soccer - Men

Men's Olympic Soccer is a type the Official Olympic soccer tournament, which includes national teams with male players under the age of 23. However, each country has the right to add three veteran players to their squads. National teams must go through a qualification event before participating in this competition. The Olympic Soccer for men takes place every four years in different host cities from a specific host country.

Who is covering the 2016 ICC tournament?

In USA, full coverage will be made available on TV in English via NBCSN, USA Network and the Soccer Specialty Channel. Telemundo and NBC Universo will join hands to provide Spanish coverage of the event.

BBC hold the rights to both the Men and Women’s football tournaments in the UK; the matches will be aired by BBC Red Button.

In Canada, the games will be covered in English and French by CBC and Radio Canada respectively. Live broadcasts in the host nation Brazil will be brought by SporTV and ESPN networks.

At what times are the games?

There will be a handful of very late games. In the Men’s Football Tournament, Nigeria vs Japan, Brazil vs Iraq, Japan vs Colombia, Denmark vs Brazil, South Africa vs Iraq and the fourth quarter-final fixture are all scheduled for 1am UTC kick-offs. In the Women’s Football Tournament, it’s France vs Colombia, Brazil vs Sweden, China vs Sweden and South Africa vs Brazil as well as Quarter-Final #4 kicking off at 1am UTC.

Most fixtures, however, will commence between 9am PT/12pm ET/4pm UTC and 4pm PT/7pm ET/11pm UTC.

About the 2016 Summer Olympics

  • In Brasilia: Group D winner vs Group C runner-up at 9am PT/12pm ET/4pm UTC
  • In Salvador: Group B winner vs Group A runner-up at 12pm PT/3pm ET/7pm UTC
  • In Belo Horizonte: Group C winner vs Group D runner-up at 3pm PT/6pm ET/10pm UTC
  • In Sao Paulo: Group A winner vs Group B runner-up at 6pm PT/9pm ET/1am UTC

Semi-final fixtures on 17 August 2016:

The final of the Men’s Football Tournament at the 2016 Summer Olympics will take place at 1:30pm PT/4:30pm ET/8:30pm UTC on August 20th at the Maracana Stadium in Rio. The bronze medal match, meanwhile, will kick-off at 9am PT/12pm ET/4pm UTC in Belo Horizonte.
