8 Mont-Blanc History, Coverage, Features
8 Mont-Blanc is a French television channel launched on February 15, 1989. Later on, the channel was temporarily shut down in 1997, and after a three-year hiatus, the channel was relaunched as TV8 Mont-Blanc.
The channel is considered as a general information regional network, which have included news, weather forecasts, magazine shows, travel guides, movies, and more over the years. As with much regional channels, the content of this network has frequently been re-broadcast several times during any given week.
Speaking about sports, 8 Mont-Blanc made history in France with their coverage of the 2012 Paralympic Games, something that had never been done by any French TV Channel. The network replicated its success in covering such events during the 2014 Winter Olympics, when they covered the games held in Sochi with two reporters in site. Other events covered by the channel include the 2006 Winter Olympic games and the 2006 Paralympic Games.
Throughout its history, 8 Mont-Blanc has aired its content in SD format. The channel is available in the regions of Pays de Savoie, Pays de Gex, and certain cities of Bas-Bugey. Added to that, the channel may also be available in certain regions of Switzerland and even in Kazakhstan.
