TSN 1260 Edmonton is a Canadian radio station. It can also be identified by the acronym CFRN, and it specializes in broadcasting sports-related shows and live sports events. It is owned by Bell Media since 2013.
TSN 1260 Edmonton’s first broadcast took place on April 17, 1927 under the acronym CHMA at 580 AM. Three years later, the station changed its acronym to CFTP, and later in that decade, the radio station switched to its current frequency and adopted its current acronym. Its early broadcasts were focused on music until 1998, when it switched its programming to an oldies station. In 2002, TSN 1260 was rebranded as The Team, part of CHUM Radio’s The Team network and maintained that name until 2013, when Bell Media acquired the radio station. TSN 1260 became a part of TSN Radio network on September 30, 2013.
Throughout its history, TSN 1260 Edmonton has mixed its programming between regional broadcasts and national shows from TSN’s network. In the past, TSN 1260 Edmonton has aired WHL games featuring the Edmonton Oil Kings, adding college football and hockey matches featuring teams from the University of Alberta.
