Peru dara la pelea en Chile

Argentina 2 - Chile 0 (World Cup 2010 qualifier, October 13, 2007) Argentina took the lead in spectacular fashion, thanks to a magical free-kick from Juan Roman Riquelme. The Argentinian playmaker then outdid himself, reproducing a second unstoppable free-kick on the stroke of half-time.

Euro 2008 Qualifiers Goals - October 13

England 3 - Estonia 0 (Euro 2008 qualifier, October 13, 2007) (Longer highlights here.) SWP put the Three Lions ahead with a shot that went through keeper Mart Poom. England then killed off the game with two goals in quick succession. Wanye Rooney’s deflected shot gave Poom no chance, before the luckless goalie was then beaten by Rahn’s unbelievable own-goal header from outside the box. Merson and Mullery believe England must improve.

Las selecciones de Perú y Paraguay empataron 0-0 en su debut en las Eliminatorias para el Mundial del 2010 y dejaron muchas dudas sobre sus opciones en el largo proceso sudamericano de clasificación.

Perú decepcionó en su casa con un juego sin soluciones ofensivas e impreciso en el fondo ante un Paraguay que, si bien fue implacable en la marca, demostró que tiene un serio problema de definición, al fallar sus delanteros hasta cinco ocasiones claras de gol.

Arsenal 3 - Sunderland 2 (Premier League, October 7, 2007) Arsenal started the game in scintillating form, going two up through van Persie’s thunderous free-kick and Senderos’ first goal of the season. But the Black Cats hit back through Ross Wallace, following a beautiful 40-yard pass from Yorke. Sunderland then completed a remarkable comeback when Kenwyne Jones rose early to head past Almunia. Manchester United 4 - Wigan 0 (Premier League, October 6, 2007) (Longer highlights here.) United had several early setbacks losing Saha (warm up), Vidic and O’Shea in the opening thirty minutes. Olembe had Kirkland to thank for saving his own-goal effort, whilst Mike Riley turned down strong penalty claims from Ronaldo and Evra. United came close to scoring with Ronaldo’s fierce drive, and Tevez should have scored on the whistle. But the Argentine scored a fabulous goal at the start of the second period, which was quickly followed by Ronaldo’s headed second. United then dominated the game, adding lovely team moves for the third and fourth goals, finished by Ronaldo and Rooney respectively. (Read full article…)
