Sunderland 0 - Liverpool 2 (Premier League, August 25, 2007) Mohammed Sissoko scored his first goal for the Reds, a sweetly struck right foot shot from outside the box. Chelsea 1 - Portsmouth 0 (Premier League, August 25, 2007) Lampard almost gave Chelsea the lead against Pompey in the first minute, and the Blues took the lead when David James failed to stop Lampard’s shot. With minutes remaining Ashley Cole saved off the line from Distin to protect Chelsea’s lead. Manchester United 1 - Tottenham H. 0 (Premier League, 26 augustus, 2007): Spurs had their first great chance, Keane hit the bar. Vidic’s shot just missed target and Scholes lifted the bal over the goal. Nani finally scored for United. First half highlights can be seen here.

Middlesbrough 2 - Newcastle United 2 (Premier League, August 26, 2007): N’Zogbia scored for Newcastle and Mido scored for Middlesbrough. Viduka scored against his old club. Arca equalised for Middlesbrough. (Read full article…)

• A pair of live UEFA Champions League match-ups featuring Liverpool vs. Toulouse on Tuesday, August 28 at 2:00 p.m. and Dinamo Zagreb vs. Werder Bremen on Wednesday, August 29 at 2:30 p.m.

• Four La Liga (Spain) matches headlined by live action featuring league-leading Real Madrid vs. Atl. Madrid on Saturday, August 25 at 2:00 p.m. and Barcelona vs. Racing on Sunday, August 26 at 1:00 p.m.

England 1 - Germany 2 (International friendly, August 22, 2007) (Longer highlights here.) England took the lead with a great goal from Frank Lampard. Kuranyi got the equaliser after an awful sequence of blunders from Robinson, before Pander scored an absolute screamer. Boy Wonder Owen managed to miss an open goal and Joe Cole’s shot just missed target. England should have equalised, or even should have taken the lead, but they missed several good chances.
