GolTV secures exclusive English Language broadcast rights of The Copa America

GolTV announced that it has secured the exclusive English Language broadcast rights to televise the 26 matches of The Copa America LIVE in their entirety for the U.S.fan and English dominant Hispanics.

The exclusive rights to broadcast live in English were acquired from Traffic Sports Marketing, one of the top sports marketing groups in the world, and are considered another coup for this pioneer soccer Network who has scored many firsts when it comes to televised soccer. This will be the first and only opportunity for fans to catch the games live in their entirety for years, as the cup will only come around again in 2011. (Read full article…)

AT THE FIRST EVER 2007 SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA BEACH SOCCER CHAMPIONSHIP

OCEANSIDE –Oceanside City Mayor Jim Wood and City Manager Peter Weiss will be honored guests this Friday night at a VIP Reception welcoming city officials and sponsors to the Southern California Beach Soccer Championship, held on the beautiful Oceanside Harbor beach this weekend.

The two day tournament from 8am – 6pm, Saturday and Sunday May 19/20, will feature more than 150 teams from all over the Southwest battling it out for beach soccer’s West Coast crown. (Read full article…)

GolTV Captures Copa America

GolTV acquired exclusive English-language TV rights in the United States for the Copa America.

The channel acquired the rights for the 26-match tournament from the Traffic Sports Marketing agency. The tournament kicks off June 26 and runs until July 16. It features the national teams from the United States, Brazil, Paraguay and host country Venezuela.

Univision holds the live Spanish-language rights in the US.

Recopa Sudamericana

Recopa Sudamericana, the annual, two-leg cup tie featuring the winners of the Copa Libertadores and Copa Sudamericana. Recopa is similar to the UEFA Super Cup which features the winners of European Champions League and UEFA Cup. The Copa Libertadores, like the European Champions League, is the most prestigious South American club tournament in which every country enters their national champion and a runner-up or two. The Copa Sudamericana, similar to the UEFA Cup, is also played annually by South American clubs and is the second most important club-level competition behind the Copa Libertadores. The game will feature the winners of last year’s Sudamericana and Libertadores.

West Ham United faces further potential legal action.

Seven Premier League clubs will decide today whether to launch a legal bid against West Ham United for acting improperly and withholding vital documentation over the ownership of Carlos Tevez and Javier Mascherano.

West Ham United were fined £5.5m by the Premier League for rule infringements connected to the transfers, but were not docked points – a decision that has proved crucial in West Ham United’s Premier League survival this season.
Speaking on Radio Four’s Today programme. as quoted by www.bbc.co.uk, Kevin McCabe, chairman of relegated Sheffield United, said he believed more Premier League clubs would join the action. (Read full article…)
