Calciopoli is not as simple as journalists have made it seem says Hasan Saiyid

Forget the euphemisms, many are trying to lay it as bare as possible. Italy’s match-fixing trial, or ‘Calciopoli’, as it is known has provided the most limited journalist with plenty of fodder to craft copy.

A journalist is arguably only in full flight when writing editorials and Calciopoli has provided muse for often gratuitous expression. Indeed, most of the English print on Italy’s match-fixing scandal has not only been unnecessarily judgmental but in many cases inaccurate.
