Many players will be going to the World Cup in Germany next summer to prove a point. The youth of Wayne Rooney is yet to be tested on the World Cup stage while starlets such as Argentina’s Lionel Messi, Brazil’s Adriano and Portugal’s Cristiano Ronaldo will also be looking to make their mark on the biggest tournament of football.
Yet the players who perhaps will shoulder most expectation are not the young ones but ones who have the constitution to deliver decisively. More importantly, players who have failed to deliver the goods in the past will be under the greatest scrutiny.
