Sunday October 7th Goals
Arsenal 3 - Sunderland 2 (Premier League, October 7, 2007) Arsenal started the game in scintillating form, going two up through van Persie’s thunderous free-kick and Senderos’ first goal of the season. But the Black Cats hit back through Ross Wallace, following a beautiful 40-yard pass from Yorke. Sunderland then completed a remarkable comeback when Kenwyne Jones rose early to head past Almunia. But the Gunners kept on pressing, and got their due rewards when RVP got his second of the game.
Liverpool 2 - Tottenham 2 (Premier League, October 7, 2007) Liverpool took the lead when Voronin capitalised on (yet another) Robinson fumble. The Reds had plenty of chances to extend their advantage, but Spurs managed to level the game when Robbie Keane profited from Berbatov’s flick-on. Incredibly, straight after the break Spurs repeated the same trick, and once again Keane finished off Berbatov’s header. The Reds were saved from back-to-back home defeats thanks to Fernando Torres’ 90th-minute header at the back-post.
