It was a frustrating day for the Gunners, but they eventually turned it around in the dying minutes, first from van Persie’s thunderous penalty and then the injury time solo winner from Hleb.
Chelsea 3 - Birmingham 2 (Premier League, August 12, 2007) After early pressure, Birmingham took a shock lead when the returning Forssell instinctively headed the ball past Cech. Chelsea quickly hit back through new signing Pizzaro’s first goal as a Blue, and then they stormed into the lead when Malouda once again showed his class. But Birmingham’s own debutante Kapo, announced himself to the Premiership in style. Essien restored the advantage with a long range shot which the keeper should have done better with. The Blues set a top-flight record of 64 home games without defeat.

And the compound matters, Rooney was taken off injured. Substitute Dave Kitson managed to get himself sent-off without touching the ball, within one minute of his introduction.
