13:00 - 15:00 ET- English Premier League: Birmingham v Newcastle

Both sides have much to gain from this outing. Birmingham trails Portsmouth (and escape from relegation) by 2 points. Newcastle is also looking for the win. Equal with Blackburn in points, goal difference and goals scored, a win over the Brummies will be essential if they hope to pull ahead of the Rovers and qualify for the UEFA Cup. Newcastle travels to St. Andrews to take on Birmingham.

23:00 - 01:00 ET- French Ligue 1: Lyon v St Etienne

For Lyon, there may still be 3 matches remaining, but they’ve already won the title. Any points earned now are really just a matter of pride for the Champions-elect. 12th-place St Etienne, on the other hand, could really use the points if they hope to crack the top half of the table.

23:00 - 01:00 ET- Argentine Primera Division: Boca Juniors v Estudiantes

The top of the Argentine leader board has been a continual power struggle between Boca Juniors and River Plate. The Juniors have managed to pull ahead slightly, and a win over Estudiantes could help widen the gap over their long-time rivals River Plate. Boca Juniors host Estudiantes La Plata.

12:00 - 14:30 ET- English Premier League: Sunderland v Arsenal ***LIVE***

Sunderland has yet to win at the Stadium of Light this season and is quickly running out of opportunities to do so. Should the Black Cats fail to win against Arsenal and Wigan next Thursday, Sunderland will have claimed the dubious honour of being the first team in England’s top league to have ever gone an entire season without a home, something sure to add insult to the injury of relegation.

15:00 - 17:00 ET- English Premier League: Manchester United v Middlesbrough ***LIVE***

As Manchester United continue to chase Chelsea, they begin to feel renewed pressure from below as Liverpool makes a renewed challenge for 2nd Place. Middlesbrough heads to Old Trafford to take on Manchester United.

15:00 - 17:00 ET- English Premier League: Blackburn v Chelsea ***LIVE***

Blackburn is looking to qualify for their first UEFA Cup in 3 years. To do that, they will need to lock down 6th place. While they currently are sitting 6th, they are only ahead of Newcastle alphabetically. Both squads are equal in points, goal difference and goals scored. Blackburn host Chelsea at Ewood Park.

20:00 - 22:00 ET- English Premier League: Liverpool v Aston Villa

Liverpool maintains a very slim chance of overtaking Manchester United and stealing 2nd spot in the Premiership. The odds are stacked against the Reds, but they will not let the opportunity pass them by. Aston Villa have had a dreadful season, if they get maximum points from both remaining games, they will only have equaled their worst ever points total of 45, the result of their 2002/03 season.

23:00 - 01:00 ET- Italian Serie A: Siena v Juventus

Despite struggling against relegation, when Siena plays host to Juventus in this Stadio.Artemio Franchi clash, a shock win over the reigning champions of the Serie A is not out of the question. A month ago, the Old Lady of Serie A looked to have a firm hold on the Scudetto. Now, after struggling against bottom-of-the-table squads like Treviso and Cagliari, Juve hold a lead of only 3 points over AC Milan.

02:00 - 04:00 ET- Italian Serie A: Milan v Livorno

What seemed like an impossible feat only a short time ago is now a very real possibility. Juventus’ fall from grace has left a gap of only 3 points over Milan. Now the Rossoneri will look to extract full points from this run-in with mid-table Livorno in an effort to overtake the “Old Lady” of Serie A. AC Milan host Livorno at the San Siro.

14:00 - 16:00 ET- English Premier League: Bolton v Middlesbrough ***LIVE***

Bolton hopes to continue distancing themselves from a horrendous run, consisting of 5 consecutive defeats, before eventually winning 4-1 over Charlton. For Middlesbrough, after elimination from the FA Cup at the hands of West Ham, there isn’t much left domestically but to try and climb a spot or two higher in the standings.

20:00 - 22:00 ET- English Premier League: Tottenham v Bolton

With only a four-point lead over Arsenal, Tottenham are definitely playing in Europe next season. The question remains, at which level? The Gunners have a game in hand over the Spurs, not to mention an ace up their sleeve: The Champions League final against Barcelona. Should Arsenal win the Champions League or manage to overcome the points gap, the Spurs will be forced to stand aside as their North London rivals head to Europe’s top club competition, something Tottenham hasn’t accomplished since 1960.

23:00 - 01:00 ET- National Rugby League: Brisbane v Canberra

Brisbane is currently sitting in 3rd place heading into Round 8 as they host the Canberra Raiders. The Raiders had the previous round off, and head into this match fully rested.

Thursday, May 4th, 2005

02:00 - 04:00 ET- German Bundesliga: MSV Duisburg v Werder Bremen

Third-place Werder Bremen travel to the Wedaustadion, where they’ll meet last-place MSV Duisburg. Werder Bremen is looking to overtake Hamburg and earn a better Champions League spot, one with automatic qualification to the group stage.

14:30 - 17:00 ET- English Premier League: Manchester City v Arsenal ***LIVE***

The pressure is on for Arsenal. They are four points back of Tottenham and Champions League Qualification. The Gunners also have the significant distraction of competing in the Champions League final in Paris. Of course, while victory over Barcelona in the final would provide automatic entry into next years competition, Arsenal cannot afford to leave it to chance.
