BIDDERS READY FOR EURO 2012 FINAL RUN
Representatives from the three bids of Ukraine-Poland, Hungary-Croatia and Italy for UEFA’s Euro 2012 tournament handed over the final part of their bid documents.
This marks the beginning of the final rush in the 2012 race, which will end on April 18th in Cardiff, Wales, when UEFA’s Executive Committee will decide on who will win the rights to host the prestigious event in five years time.
The final documents detail all stadium agreements, host city agreements and accommodation plans.
Mikael Salzer, head of national team competitions for UEFA said, “to date, all of the dossiers have been very well presented and professional, which is in line with a competition of such a high standing as the UEFA European Championship, one of the top three sporting competitions in the world these days.”
The UEFA Executive Committee decided last October to postpone the decision of the appointment of the hosts for the 2012 UEFA European Championship to give the bidding associations more time for the fine-tuning of their bids.
