Brazilian football is the highlight of Globo TV Sports on Sportel

Globo TV Sports lands in Monaco to take part in Sportel 2006 – the most important event in the sports segment worldwide – from October 16 to 19.

On the Globo TV Sports catalogue for 2007, the highlight is the Brazilian Magic Football, an 82 live match’s package from the Brazilian and São Paulo championships. Brazilian Magic Football is already a success. In only one year, it has been broadcast to over 125 countries, reaching millions of football fans in regions such as Asia, South and North America, Eastern Europe and Europe. “With the mark of a football that has won five World Cups, we once again come to Sportel with a product that has great potential to become a ratings strategic tool on the programming grid of channels all over the world”, trusts Marcelo Spínola, Globo TV Sports director.

The Brazilian championship is one of the most competitive, dynamic and attractive in the world. It gathers 20 of the main teams in Brazil, with five world champions among them. Furthermore, Brazil is recognized as an inexhaustible source of excellent players, home to the major stars playing abroad today.

“We have allied the attractiveness of the five-time world champion to a solid international sales marketing strategy and the vast experience of the fourth broadcast station in the world, TV Globo , when covering major sports events. This combination has ensured us a prominent market position, consistently marking our presence in more than 125 countries after only one year of operations”, celebrates Spínola.

Besides the high technical quality, Globo TV Sports offers its clients strong information support on a website, entirely written in English, which gathers data, updated daily, about matches, statistics on the most important Brazilian teams, exclusive interviews with several stars, a behind-the-scenes look at football and a planner with dates and times of the following matches.

Another differential of the Brazilian distributor is Footbrazil, a 26-minute weekly program, broadcast via satellite in English, which brings special reports from behind the scenes, the training sessions, the rosters, the profile of players. On the show, viewers can follow the daily workings of world champion teams, like São Paulo, Flamengo and Grêmio, gain access to championship information, exclusive interviews with players and coaches coveted by international teams, among other topics. The production of Footbrazil relies on the experienced Globo TV news team, which has been covering for over 30 years major national and international events, such as the World Cup, Formula 1 races and the Olympic Games.

Exclusively dedicated to the licensing of Brazilian sports events abroad, Globo TV Sports celebrates its first anniversary in October 2006. It’s launching, which happened during last year’s Sportel with the participation of football stars Kaká and Cafu, generated great interest, among countries from all over the world, in Brazilian football. This year, the Brazilian distributor will have on its stand two important partners: the president, Fabio Koff, and vice-president, Mustafá Contursi, of Clube dos 13, the organization that has the broadcasting rights for the main football championship in Brazil, besides representing the 20 biggest Brazilian teams.

Globo TV Sports portfolio also includes other Brazilian sports: beach volleyball, with the participation of the most important names in this sport worldwide fighting for the title on Brazilian sand; international indoor football challenges, in which the Brazilian national team has conquered over 45 international titles; Stock Car seasons, the main racing event in Brazil; and international marathons that take place in Brazil, such as the São Silvestre Marathon and the São Paulo International Marathon, which gather athletes from all corners of the globe.
