CAT WHITEHILL, JOINS THE FC FOX TEAM
U.S. WOMEN’S NATIONAL TEAM DEFENDER,
Los Angeles, CA – October 5, 2006 – Cat Whitehill (formerly Cat Reddick), who currently stars for the U.S. Women’s National Soccer Team, will be introduced as the newest member of the FC Fox team this Friday, October 6 at 7:30 p.m. ET/4:30 p.m. PT. The 2004 Olympic Gold Medalist will be stepping in for Heather Mitts for the remainder of 2006 as the host of the show’s tips on technique and play-making segment. Both Heather and Cat will be featured regularly on FC Fox, Fox Soccer Channel’s original weekly series spotlighting American youth and amateur soccer, in 2007.
Over the past six years, Cat has enjoyed an illustrious soccer career. As a member of the prestigious University of North Carolina women’s team, Cat made an immediate impact, being named to the 2000 Freshman All-American Team as well as the Defensive Most Valuable Player upon winning the 2000 NCAA Women’s National Soccer title with the Tar Heels. The 2002 season proved to be a breakout year for the young defender, as she was named to the All-Tournament team at the 2002 NCAA Final Four. That season, she won the National Soccer Buzz Player of the Year Award, was selected to the 2002 First Team All-ACC Team and received her first of two consecutive Missouri Athletic Hermann Trophies. In 2003, Cat claimed the NCAA Defensive MVP Award and the 2003 Honda Soccer Award for the top women’s college player in the nation.
Cat Whitehill has been a full member of the U.S. Women’s National Team since 2002 and started all five matches for the U.S. during the 2002 CONCACAF Women’s Gold Cup, which the Americans won to qualify for the 2003 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
