The January transfer window is now officially slammed shut. Quite a lot happened on its very last day. Here is a look at the three big winners and losers.

David Beckham signed for PSG on the last day of the January 2013 transfer window.Winners: David Beckham and PSG

The aging legs of David Beckham still have much to offer. After training with Arsenal, the veteran midfielder signed for PSG on Thursday. He is still one of the best when it comes to set-pieces and it would be really interesting to see how he fares for his new club.

“I'm lucky to have achieved what I've achieved and earned what I have earned,” he told the press concerning his top deal.

“One of the reasons to come here is that with Nasser [Al Khelaifi, PSG president] and [sporting director] Leonardo, we've  decided on something quite unique.”

The French giants already have Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Lucas Moura in their squad. With David Beckham, the oil rich club will attract much more publicity in the news like on the market, and achieve perhaps even better results on the pitch.

Losers: QPR and Peter Odemwingie

Peter Odemwingie was at QPR undergoing a medical in the final seconds of the deadline day. The striker failed to obtain permission from his present employers at West Brom but still chose to undergo a medical at Queens Park Rangers.

The move completely collapsed and the striker is in hot water now. He is expected to be left out of the Baggies’ squad for at least a few games. He may even have to train with the reserves as a punishment for his misdemeanour. What’s left for the Nigerian whose international career with the Super Eagles suffered a blow after he was omitted from the 2013 AFCON squad?

Winners: Willian and Anzhi Makachkala

Willian is a highly rated player in Europe. The Brazilian was pursued by several top clubs in Europe including Chelsea and Spurs. Signing for Anzhi is certainly a step in the right direction for the Shakhtar Donetsk star. How will his move influence his career with the Selecão, less than two years before the 2014 FIFA World Cup?
