Primera División History, Format, Organization, Media Coverage
Liga Primera de Nicaragua, ülkenin en üst düzey futbol kategorisidir. Bu yarışma 1933 yılında oluşturulmuş olup, Nicaraguan Football Federation (Nikaragua Futbol Federasyonu) tarafından yönetilmektedir.
Yarışmanın formatı, düzenli bir sezon boyunca oynanan iki turnuvayı içerir. İlk turnuva Ağustos ile Kasım arasında düzenlenir ve Torneo de Apertura olarak adlandırılırken, ikinci yarışma Ocak ile Mayıs arasında yapılan Torneo de Clausura'dır. Her düzenli sezon, ilk dört takımın yarı finallere çıktığı bir final aşaması ile tamamlanır. İki çift deplasmanlı maç şeklinde oynanan bu mücadelelerde, en iyi dereceye sahip olan ekip rövanş maçını evinde oynar. Yarışmanın galibi, toplam skorda beraberlik durumunda belirlenen iki ayaklı bir finalle belirlenir ve kazananı sıralamak için uzatma ve penaltılar kullanılır.
Lig, on takımı ağırlar ve bir çıkma-inme sistemi üzerinde çalışır. İki tam sezon boyunca (Apertura ve Clausura) en az puana sahip olan takım otomatik olarak Segunda División'a düşer. Ek bir küme düşme hakkı, bu ligdeki dokuzuncu takım ile Segunda División'dan ikinci olan takım arasında çözümlenir.
Bu lig için kapsama alanı, sınırlı sayıda maçın haftalık olarak canlı olarak yayınlandığı yerel ağ Canal 6'yı içerir ve 2025'e kadar devam eder. Ayrıca, maçlar aynı zamanda ligin YouTube kanalında canlı ve isteğe bağlı olarak izlenebilir.
